Watts Gallery and halow: A Creative Partnership Making a Big Impact
As part of this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge, we’re shining a spotlight on the organisations and partners who help make halow’s work possible. One partnership that continues to inspire us is our long-standing creative collaboration with Watts Gallery.
Over many years, Watts Gallery has become a place of joy, self-expression, and belonging for halow’s young adults with learning disabilities and autism. Their team has consistently welcomed our community into an environment where art is not only seen, but felt and experienced. From hands-on workshops to behind-the-scenes insights into the world of art, their support has opened doors to creative opportunities that many of our participants may not otherwise have had access to.
A Vision Rooted in Inclusion
This commitment to inclusion is deeply rooted in Watts Gallery’s history. As Sarah Jarvis, Head of Engagement at Watts Gallery, shares:
“Watts Gallery is proud to work with the halow Project as one of our key community partners. Following the vision of our founders, Mary and George Frederic (GF) Watts—who believed art should be accessible to all—we collaborate with charities and community organisations to create engaging, inclusive, and creative programmes that support people who may not otherwise have access to art and culture.” - Sarah Jarvis, Head of Engagement, Watts Gallery
This shared belief, that creativity should be available to everyone, lies at the heart of our partnership. For the adults and young people we support, art offers confidence and a powerful way to communicate their voice.
This year, Watts Gallery kindly featured Alice, one of our supported adults, in their Big Give campaign. Their video beautifully captures Alice’s experience engaging with art, highlighting the joy and empowerment that creative spaces bring.
For Alice, and many of our supported adults, community partners like Watts gallery are a turning point for their confidence. By taking part in the Big Give campaign you can help continue the incredible work of Watts Gallery and be a part of someone's journey to confidence and creative-expression.
We are incredibly grateful to Watts Gallery for spotlighting halow during such an important campaign. Their platform not only raises awareness of our work but also celebrates the achievements of the individuals at the centre of everything we do.
"If halow wasn't here, I wouldn't be as happy as I am today"
