Testimonials

At halow, the impact of our work is best told by the people who experience it every day.

Young people and adults with learning disabilities share how our support helps them grow in independence, confidence, and happiness. Our dedicated staff also speak from the heart about how rewarding and fulfilling it is to be part of the halow team.

Together, these stories highlight the real difference employees in halow can make, both to the lives of those we support and to those who choose this meaningful path.

My support workers help me with cooking new foods and travel training which makes me feel good and confident. I like buddies who are funny, caring and listen when I need somone to talk to. New people will love working at halow; it's fun and they will feel like they can make a difference to my life. If they are new to caring, I would try to make them feel welcome by showing them around the house and all my Disney toys, and I would make them laugh so they feel comfortable.
Sarah, Young Person
I wanted to find a job that was going to fill my desire to help people and really make a difference. Working closely with the people I was supporting to achieve goals in their life gave me the encouragement and passion to continue and try to develop my skills even further.
Having now been with the company for almost 10 years, it is clear the impact and improvements we have made and how we are going to continue to deliver exceptional person-centred care.

Every day, I am filled with a sense of honor and joy, knowing that I am making a positive impact on someone's life. It is immensely rewarding to assist others in reaching their goals and milestones, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their journey towards success and fulfillment.
Munya, Support Worker
I joined halow to make a difference and help bring adventure and excitement the people we support. I am beyond glad I joined. The young people bring so much joy into my job role. I love being part of their progress and seeing them accomplish new goals within their lives. Each one of the people I support have so much enthusiasm and are funny to be around. Seeing them progress and achieve things they never thought they could brings me so much joy.
Courtney, Senior Support Worker
If you want to work with people who are kind, inclusive and positive, halow could be the place for you. As a Learning Support Worker, I thoroughly enjoy being out and about in the community supporting young people to become more independent. I like the fact that no two days are the same but, to me, the most rewarding aspect of the job is to help young people to develop in confidence and to make the changes that they want.
Rosa, Learning Support Worker
What I love about working for halow is seeing the smiles on the faces of the young people that we support which means that the activity or session we are running is something they enjoy participating in, and is making a difference to their lives.  They are so appreciative of what we do which makes our jobs so worthwhile.

What can I expect from the Recruitment Process?

At halow we recruit via the following process:
First, we hold a phone screen which allows our recruitment team to learn about you and your experience to check a potential fit to halow. This is also a chance for you to ask first questions about the role and company.

The second stage is a Face to Face interview which is conducted by two staff, usually the hiring manager and a member of the HR team. The interview takes a deeper dive into your experience and what what you could bring to the team. You can expect questions on how knowledgable you are in the role. (Some roles may also have a written task or observation).

If you are successful in the role, as part of our onboarding process we requie suitable references and a Basic/Enhanced DBS check to be completed and self disclosure to be made for these checks. Some roles are also subject to an overseas criminal records check if applicable.

You will then follow an induction plan with your line manager where you will meet the team and complete relevant training and shadow shifts for the role.

What are the routes for progression?

halow  is keen to support and grow internal progression routes for employees. With staff progressing in a singular department and across departments too.

Katie shares her story of her journey through halow;
"I found halow during my apprenticeship and loved working with the groups. When my apprenticeship came to an end I knew I must work for halow and started as a Support Worker on the 1:1 service. During my role I was able to complete a Level 3 course in Adult Social care. The skills I learnt with halow gave me the confidence to apply for and work in the role of Project Worker. In covid, my direction of work changed slightly but I knew I still wanted to have a positive impact on the lives of the young adults halow supports. Therefore, I moved into the role of Business Support Officer within our HR team before progressing into Recruitment and now my current role of HR Officer. halow really has enabled me to explore new skills and areas of interest and I am grateful to the team for the support they have given me throughout my career."

Does halow offer hybrid working?

The ability to hybrid work depends on the nature of the role which you are applying for. Please always check the job description for the most up to date information.

Whilst there is more flexibility for office based roles to have an element of hybrid working, we are mindful that many of our employees work on the frontline delivering services to our young adults therefore these roles are unable to be offered on a remote or hybrid basis.

Do I need experience to work in this role?
