Volunteer's Week 2022

We would like to take this opportunity to say an enormous thank you to all the wonderful volunteers that support halow. Whether directly supporting our young people, or helping at an event or in the office, volunteers are an important part of the halow team, and we are so grateful to have you on board!

One of our lovely volunteers, Jane, kindly shared with us some of the reasons she loves volunteering with halow:

"I really enjoy volunteering and feel I get as much out of volunteering with halow as the young people do. I took early retirement from the NHS after working for them for 40 years at a variety of places in various roles ending up in a managerial role which was not as rewarding as my early years. Two independent people suggested I’d find volunteering at halow rewarding and they were both right, one a social worker the other the mother of a member of halow staff. Every day, every year and every young person is different and offers challenges and rewards. I’ve taken part in social activities that I’d never thought of doing, and ones that I’d done in the past and enjoyed. I’ve seen young people go through youth club and onto Building Futures and then gaining paid employment. I’ve met so many young people over the 8 years, all remember me and ask about my dog, it’s so nice to see how independent they have become and know that I helped contribute to that in a small way."

Thank you Jane and all of our other wonderful volunteers.
