Guildford in Bloom Awards 2022

We were thrilled to win multiple awards at the Guildford in Bloom Awards 2022. It was great to see the young people's hard work recognised.

Our A Reason To Get Up programme won Silver Gilt in the Best Allotment and Kitchen Garden Award with their Cook and Grow programme, and the Building Futures learning programme won Bronze in the same category. Building Futures also won Gold in the Best Site for Nature Conservation Award for their badger hide at Birtley.

The A Reason To Get Up team said, "We are delighted to have received a Silver Gilt award! We are really proud of all the hard work that our young people have demonstrated at our Kitchen Garden project at Birtley House, despite a number of challenges this year with the extreme weather and some very hungry rabbits! Thank you to halow young people Amy and Adam, and Wendy our Merrist Wood teacher, for collecting this on behalf of halow."

The Building Futures team added, "We are thrilled to have been recognised with a Gold and a Bronze award. All our three year groups worked incredibly hard throughout the year at The Lido Allotments, with some big plans in the pipeline for the coming year. Our Year C group were particularly recognised for building a badger hide and their other conservation efforts at Birtley House. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Simon and the team at Birtley, and Peter from SATRO, for all their support."

Well done everyone!
