Learning About The Food Industry with Porky Whites
We had another incredible day with Surrey-based Porky Whites, learning about the food industry and what goes into making their fantastic sausages! For our young adults, days like this are vital for growth and independence, so we are grateful to any businesses who open their doors for hands-on experience.
Following along the full production process, from raw goods entering the factory to the creation of a finished product, we experienced a lot along the way, and even had a chance to swirl Cumberland rings!
During the tour, we saw how their machinery works, and had the opportunity to ask questions to Porky Whites’ Head of Operations and Technical Manager. For many of our young adults, this was the first time they had experienced an environment like this, with the Porky Whites team saying “We believe this experience provided valuable insights and knowledge, helping to empower young adults to think about jobs they might consider.”
Head of People and Culture, Carla Quirk said, “As a family business, we love to get involved in the community and are committed to inclusivity. It was great to see everyone get stuck in and have a go especially swirling sausages to make Cumberland rings. It was truly a privilege to welcome halow to Porky Whites again and we look forward to your next visit and to working on future projects together.“

"If halow wasn't here, I wouldn't be as happy as I am today"
