halow project has been awarded a generous grant of £500 from The Screwfix Foundation towards the amazing halow allotment.
The Screwfix Foundation is a charity which supports projects to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and facilities for those in need. The halow allotment has been a work in progress with a desperate need for equipment, and thanks to this grant the group of young people that run the allotment known as the Garden Group will now have the tools and equipment needed to continue their activities.
Rose Connolley, Fundraising & Communications Assistant commented: “We are very grateful to The Screwfix Foundation for donating these much needed funds to support our charity. The funding will enable young people to learn about and grow their own produce and will also help towards requiring funding to purchase timber kits and materials. We’d like to thank everyone who was involved in the fundraising – it’s been a great help to us.”
Tuesday, 15th September was a day of celebration in which the Guildford Store Manager of Screwfix, Andy Perry, visited the allotment and met the young people who have been out tending the vegetable patches over the last year.
It was a brilliant day and we would like to thank The Screwfix Foundation for making a huge difference to young people with a learning disability.
