The epic halow250 came to a climatic end today as the 80+ riders rode into Guildford to complete the final leg of their 250 mile challenge.
Our cyclists were up and about early this morning as the ferry arrived in Portsmouth at 6.45am. They cycled to the Marina Bar Southsea for a hearty breakfast before making their way to Steadham for a 25 mile marker stop.
By 12.30 they were gathered at the Parrot Inn, Shalford for a photo opportunity and to ride the last 3 miles into as a group.
It was a particularly special day as the peloton was joined by two of halow's young people, Chris and Nick. Nick (pictured above) rode tandem with his halow Buddy Jason and is helping to raise money for us; please support him here. Nick and Chris wanted to show their support by cycling the last 60 miles. Well done guys on your hard work and eagerly taking part.
It was an emotional and inspirational sight as the large peloton made their way into Guildford. Cheers and applause filled the air as halow supporters, young people, staff and the general public flocked to welcome the team. The riders were finally able to rest as they joined their friends and familiy for a drink and food at The Weyside pub.
halow Director, Yvonne, thanked all those who took part and helped to organise the ride saying, "I am delighted to see this event has gone from strength to strength. Thanks to our generous sponsors, every penny raised will go straight towards our services for young people."
halow wants to thank the halow250 sponsors; Young's Brewery, The Arrow Shipping Group and GMR Recruitment for their hard work and financial support. Thank you to Wandle Cycle Works, 2Boats and everyone who supported the ride and ensured the riders were safe, comfortable and motivated. An enormous thank you to all the cyclists who worked hard in training, getting sponsorship & riding 250 miles, all for halow.
