On Wednesday, 24th June 2015, the halow project was thrilled to hold yet another Damon Hill Karting Challenge event at Daytona Motorsport, the UK's premier karting venue. Now in its fourth year, DHKC 2015 was the best yet!

We had 35 teams of drivers from London & Surrey-based firms and businesses. “The Champ” Damon Hill OBE was joined by Alex Lynn of Williams GP2 and F1 and the reigning GP3 champion, Ollie Millroy GT racing driver for AAI Motorsports and stunt driver for the latest Mission Impossible movie and Graham Hill, world class karter and IAME X30 International Masters Champion 2014. Together they formed the Damon’s Allstars Team!

As the drivers arrived they were assigned their suits and undertook a practise session, which certainly got them in the competitive spirit! Meanwhile, we were joined by World Touring Car Championship (as seen on Eurosport) presenter and motorsport specialist Alexandra Legouix. She didn't hesitate to delve deep into some tough questions for the participants which made for some entertaining watching! We were thrilled to find Alexandra is incredibly supportive of the work halow does and we hope to work with her again.

The karts took to the grid with teams of up to five drivers taking part in the Le Mans style 2.5hr endurance race. Drivers and spectators alike enjoyed the thrill of the race, with big cheers and general camaraderie. The karting was made even more brilliant when halow young people joined us as spectators for the evening, with some of them helping the fundraising team- much appreciated.

As the race drew to a close the winners were announced as Easykart UK, beating their predecessors Damon's All Stars who made it to second place. Rapid Response placed third, with the fastest lap set by HV All Stars.

To top it all off there was a fun-packed auction with motorsport memorabilia and experience days up for grabs. Specialist charity auctioneer Mark Head worked the crowd to full effect, helping to raise a lot of money for halow. Special mention to Damon Hill for helping to showcase the very special prizes. This year, the event raised £18,500 for the halow project's young people which is absolutely fantastic!

We would like to thank Daytona Motorsport for hosting the event and our sponsor, Arbuthnot Latham, for the amazing support.

See you next year for #DHKC2016!
