It was a great pleasure to work with The NCS Challenge again this summer. The scheme, formed by the National Citizen Services (NCS) and national charity The Challenge, provides opportunities for 15-17 year olds to improve their life & work skills through exciting activities and working with local charities.
The group from The Challenge came into visit halow, find out about our services and young people and were asked to think about how they could support the charity. It was great to meet such an interested, passionate and engaged group of young people who later that week took to Guildford High Street to campaign and raise awareness for halow's work in the local community.
This year we worked with the group to organise and facilitate a sports day for the young people at halow, which was incredibly popular. halow's young people were incredibly excited to the meet The Challenge group and get stuck into the sports on offer. After the warm up everyone was split into teams for games of basketball, football cricket and boccia giving everyone the opportunity to get involved and meet each other! It was a great success with both groups learning new skills.
Thank you to The Challenge group for all your hard work and enthusiasm in campaigning and for your patience and dedication in organising the sports day for our young people.
The Challenge is the UK's leading charity for building a more integrated society. Work on a local level to bring together people from all ages, ethnicities and walks of life, connecting communities and building trust. halow is proud to work with this organisation, connecting young people in their local communities.
