June 30th 2015, the halow project announced today that its presence at two recent events has resulted in a significant boost to its fundraising and profile raising campaigns which in turn will help young people with a learning disability.

The first event, which took place last Wednesday, was the annual Damon Hill Karting Challenge, which takes place at Daytona Sandown Park. 35 teams (of up to five people) competed in a 2.5 hour challenge. The event culminates in a BBQ and charity auction. The evening raised an impressive £18.500.

This was followed by Goodwood’s Festival of Speed where halow was the official event beneficiary. The celebrated annual event saw some 200,000 people descend on Lord March’s Goodwood estate for four days of fast and furious motorsports.

halow in its capacity as official event beneficiary worked with Goodwood’s official event charity, The Richard Burns Foundation, throughout the event. The charity hopes to raise £60,000 from the Festival. Highlights included:

Bonhams auctioning Damon Hill’s personal copy of the Champions’ edition F1 OPUS which raised £20,125.00

McLaren Automotive asked members of the public for a £2.00 donation to sit in their bright orange, Spider car on their stand – this was a big hit with the public.

halow young people visited the event in an organised, social activity with halow staff, Buddies and volunteers. The group loved their day out and made the most of the exhibits, displays and celebrities involved in the Festival.

Damon Hill OBE autograph signing and photo calls proved a resounding success with fans and visitors alike. Over 100 people queued each day on the halow stand to meet Damon, ask for autographs and pose for photos. Everyone then made a donation to the charity of which Damon is co-founder and Patron.

halow’s charity raffle raised over £4,000 during the event. The draw is being made on Thursday 2nd July by halow young people at the charity’s Quarry Street, Guildford office with winners being notified directly.

The four-day event was a great opportunity for halow to promote its name and services to a huge, new audience. halow must thank everyone who helped them before and during the Festival of Speed. #DamonSaysDonate
