Style Up & Clothing Drive
Things are getting stylish at G Live as the G Live Young Producers are offering young fashion designers the chance to showcase their work at Style Up on Tuesday 4 June at 7.30pm. Designers will be able to have their work take part in a classic catwalk show as long as their submissions involve the use of second hand clothes “upstyled” to create the next fashion craze.
All money raised from the evening will go to the halow project charity which is dedicated to creating opportunities and supporting young people with learning disabilities. Designers will be split into two age ranges with under 16s invited to upstyle a t-shirt in a competition and over 16s having the chance to submit designs of single upstyled items or collections (drawings and photos of physical creations). This is a great opportunity for young designers to have their first taste of the catwalk while audiences will be able to shop at jewellery and craft stalls as they listen to live music.
As part of the project the G Live Young Producers are asking the local community to get involved by donating their reusable clothes and accessories that are hiding at the back of the wardrobe so they can be upstyled on the catwalk. Donations can be received on 10- 20 May at the G Live Ticket Desk.
G Live Young Producers are a group of 14 to 25 year olds whose aim is to bridge the gap between young people and the arts in and around Guildford.
Tickets are £5 and can be purchased on arrival or from the G-Live box office in advance.
