A fundraiser at London's Guanabara Club in July raised more than £50,000 for halow. The crowd of over 200 people were wowed by the return of Rick Astley, 80's singing sensation who sounds as good today as he did in his heyday. Supported by up and coming band Velvet Stream, Rick sang his evergreen hits "Never Gonna Give you Up", "Together Forever" and a host of new and favourite songs.
The auction was compered by the Original "Stig", Perry McCarthy, who sold items including both sun and ski holidays, Olympic boxing tickets, as well as sporting memorabilia, a private gig with Velvet Stream and a recording session with producer Raf Riley at the famous Chocolate Studios in Wood Green.
"Everyone at halow is thrilled that Rick was able to come back for a return visit to this popular event" said halow Director, Yvonne Hignell "and the funds raised have really exceeded our hopes in this difficult economic climate - thank you to everyone who attended and especially to John Stevens, one of our Trustees, who did an amazing job organising the event"
