The first ever halow karting challenge was hailed a huge success by one and all, after a mammoth event at Daytona Sandown Park in June and it has been decided to make this an annual event.

150 drivers took to the track in a 35-team full grid event, all vying for honours against such luminaries of motorsport as Damon Hill, Perry McCarthy, Danny Watts, Duncan Tappy, Jack Clarke, Josh Hill, who were joined by up and coming racers Freddy Nordstrom and  Jody Fannin, and celebrity drivers Rick Parfitt junior and driver-turned-broadcaster Tom Gaymor.

A seriously competitive spirit was in evidence – especially when the organiser for halow, Di Bird started offering her “black flags for money” system!  All at once, the money came out left right and centre, bribing Di to make sure a quicker team had to visit the pits for 30 seconds.

Everyone took it in good spirit, though and a massive £22000 was raised.

Founder members of halow, Damon, Richard Meins, Tim Oliver, Matt McArthur were all competing, and Trustee John Stevens wasn’t averse to offering a bribe or two of his own!
