The Johnny Herbert Karting Challenge took place on the 30th November 2013 at the UK's biggest indoor karting venue, Capital Karts in Barking. 19 Teams of over 100 drivers battled it out in a 3 hour endurance race on this massive circuit that sees lap times of over 70 seconds.
The winning team was headed by Mercedes F1 test and reserve driver, Sam Bird and included Tom Hunt (son of James), Riki Christodolou, Tamsin Germain and Connor Mills, who on his final stint set a new lap record of 66.890 secs.
2nd place was taken by solo driver Howard Kayman who raised much more than his entry fee for halow with such a sterling effort.
3rd place was a long time supporter of the JHKC, Lane Bednash and his team 'Rapid Response'.
4th place went to Team Force Kingfisher headed by James Griffith.
5th place went to a Red Bull Racing team from the F1 World Champions lead by Matthew Hibbert.
A trackside memorabilia auction included prizes such as a tour of the Red Bull facility, a signed Mark Webber shirt and the rear wing of the Monaco-winning Sam Bird GP2 car, followed by the trophy presentation which was conducted by Johnny Herbert.
We want to thank everyone who took part in the race and helped organise this exciting event. A great day was had by all with over £12,500 being raised for halow.
