Today’s ride saw the cyclists’ journey across France from St Malo to Caen completing a challenging 117 miles. The route from St Malo takes in Mont Saint-Michel before getting a little trickier after the lunch stop.
The riders enjoyed cycling parts of the famous Tour de France route, with beautiful views and picturesque French Countryside and even taking in some delightful cycle tracks off road.
The weather was spectacular today – fabulous for the sightseeing but a little tough for some when combined with some of the more challenging inclines today. The Support Crew was on hand though to help cyclists who needed a little attention in the heat.
Day 2 is always an extra busy day for the support team, with the vital food stops, signing the route and Elswood Cycleworks on hand for bicycle repairs taking place throughout the day. A special shout out of the day goes to Hannah Adair a past halow staff member who this year has become the Chef du Course for the ride and doing a fantastic job supporting the ever-present George and Mark from GM Recruitment. We would like to say thank you to Richard Sheppard at Motorlux UK for sponsoring this year’s support vehicles and providing the excellent vehicles to support the ride.

Another special mention for today for overcoming the odds goes to Nick and Nigel on the tandem. Nick used to attend halow activities and knows how important halow’s work is for young people. With the support of his fellow rider, Nigel, Nick has now cycled the ride 5 times!
Everyone safely arrived at Pegasus Bridge and onto the stop for dinner. Then they set off towards their ferry for a much needed good night’s sleep.
