The Mill Studio at Yvonne Arnaud was the setting for the première of “A journey of hope to find work”, the animated film made by some of our young people .
Our young people were given the opportunity to make this film by Creative Junction (a community interest company working with and for young people and the creative and cultural sector to make change happen) and the subject matter was entirely chosen by them. It was clear that having a reason to get up was their main objective and the film centres around Anna and the challenges she faces finding work as a young person with a learning disability. Amusing and moving, the film was enjoyed by members of the local business community and social services.
Our guest of honour was The Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Jennifer Jordan who praised the young people of halow for their courage in making the film as she herself found standing up and talking to people quite daunting!
Copies of the DVD are available on request.
