Housing

Thinking about where you want to live and finding your own home can be difficult.  halow can support you to think about where you would like to live, and also put you in touch with organisations that can support you to find a home of your own.

One thing that we would advise you to do is get on the housing register, in the town where you live call us and we can advise you on how to do this.

Money

Getting Help to be Independent

halow can help you by employing people to work with you.  We call these people Buddies and you will get to choose who these people are.  This service costs money but you may be entitled to something called a Personal Budget, which is money you can use to pay for support.

There is more information about this on the Parents/Carers page, if you have a social worker you could talk to them or you could call halow and we could advise you on this.

Work

Finding Work or a Job

halow has a Business Group which meets to think about setting up a business.  At the moment the young people are looking into setting up a café.  We can also help by putting you in touch with organisations that can support you to find work experience placements, paid or unpaid work.

Meeting People

Getting out and Making Friends

Sometimes it's hard to make friends, perhaps you have been away at college and come home and your friends may have moved away or made new friends.  halow can help you to find new friends and you can take part in some really exciting activities as well.  We have lots of social events, trips and fun things going on.  Please email or call us, we can let you know what's going on and what you can get involved with.

Learning

Learn Something New

halow are involved in setting up lots of new and exciting ways for young people to learn.  There are also courses that you can get involved with that other organisations run.  We always like to hear your ideas about things you may want to try or learn. Please share your ideas with us and we will work with you to see if we can set up a new group or activity.

Any Other Help

halow are here to offer advice and can put you in touch with other organisations that can offer help, advice and support.  You might want information on benefits, housing, schools or colleges.  Please call us and we will put in touch with the right people.
