Volunteers

Our Volunteers have come from our partnerships with the local Adult Volunteer Bureau and Vinvolved, the young person's volunteer organisation. As we have expanded halow we have found Volunteers through word of mouth.

Our Volunteers are not expected to come to us with any previous experience,  however we are looking for a willingness to work with our young people and to offer any spare time they have available. On their induction Volunteers are given a copy of the Volunteer Role; our expectations, policies and procedures. There is also a Volunteer Handbook they can access (please see our downloads page).

All our Volunteers are CRB checked which gives them clearance to work with our client group. The cost of this is paid for by halow. All our Volunteers will be supported by the Volunteer Coordinator at halow and have the chance to take part in on-going training. Any Volunteers engaged with Vinvolved can gain accreditation from the hours worked with us.

All Volunteers are given instruction on activities beforehand, what is expected of them on the day, which other Volunteers and Staff will be on the activity and which young people will be attending. They will be allocated one or two young people who they will be responsible for on the activity and support them in making sure they have a good time. Once our Volunteers have gained confidence with our group there is the chance to take a lead with running the activities.

On the last Wednesday of every month halow holds an information evening for those of you interested in becoming a volunteer. These informal sessions run from 6-7pm and are held at the halow offices.

If you are interested in coming along and finding out more please email the Volunteer Coordinator, Sally Taylorson at  sally.t@halowproject.org.uk
